HUBUC is a project currently with 2 years of history. Some of their milestones are:
- Be in the process of incubating and accelerating in the YCombinator program during the first half of 2021.
- Capture €9M in its seed round during the first quarter of 2022.
On the other hand, HUBUC is a technology provider, positioned around Embedded Finance and in a modular platform format. They help brands launch financial products in a simple way against a single API, and in white label model. These products are mainly accounts and payment cards, both physical and virtual.
Finnovating (F): Please tell us a little about HUBUC and how the FinTech started to be.
Rubén Bajo (RB): HUBUC is in the world of embedded finance, mainly helping brands to launch different use cases of IBAN accounts, and card programs in B2B2B models. HUBUC was founded by Hasan Nawaz and Ignacio Javierre after pivoting 3 times on other FintTech models.
Finnovating (F): How did the idea come about?
(RB): After an experience that could be improved with the partner chosen to launch Pigari (the last FinTech before HUBUC), they were able to identify that in the financial technology sector they could help others, such as themselves, to more easily integrate this type of financial product.
Finnovating (F): You are the current Head of Spain of HUBUC. How does the company fit in the Global FinTech ecosystem?
(RB): In these two years in the market, luckily, we have validated the need in the financial ecosystem for players such as HUBUC. These move away from traditional banking and the existing Core Banking. We are able to carry out our vision and purpose that we established at the beginning of our operations.
Finnovating (F): What is HUBUC ‘s value proposition?
(RB): Our value proposition makes sense when one or more pain points are identified in companies where our financial technology can help and we can be the perfect partner for them. Also, for those brands that want to launch a financial product for their clients in a simple way, with a single integration, a single interaction team and a single invoice.

Finnovating (F): How do you think the implementation of digital functionalities will impact the traditional business model?
(RB): We have seen that with the arrival of a global pandemic, the development of features that was expected in 10 years has been done in 1 year. Increasingly, consumers do not want to go physically to any place where their presence is mandatory, and what remains is mainly leisure and health. All sectors that are outside this scope of assistance obligation must digitize their processes to survive.
Finnovating (F): Is HUBUC interested in partnering with large companies in the sector? How do you think Finnovating can help you with this goal?
(RB): HUBUC was born as a collaborative company, in which he believes that the synergies between large corporations with startups or FinTech can be beneficial for both parties, and finally for the final consumer, whether they are individuals or companies. Finnovating, as a global platform of an ecosystem, is a form of partnership in which HUBUC will always be interested in the visibility and networking that we can obtain.
Finnovating (F): What do you think can be the impact of digital platforms in the FinTech industry?
(RB): Our main clients are B2B SaaS platforms, many large and good service companies have become or are trying to become companies that can sell products through platforms or creating platforms.

(RB): Finnovating is a clear example of digital transformation. It has managed to become, among other things, a collaborative and innovation platform, leading at an international level.
